Golden summer light

I don't think there's anything more beautiful or stunning than golden evening sunlight. It's a photographer's dream, well, it certainly is for me, as it just makes everything glow with warmth. It's almost the world's way of making you slow down for a moment to notice all the beauty that is close by, and the little details that can be so easily overlooked as we go about our lives.

Another thing you may have noticed in a few of my recent shots is how I like to sometimes use blur. Not everyone will like this approach, which I completely appreciate, but I like the mysterious effect blurring a shot can have. I like to put my lens onto manual focus and then speedily snap away at different angles to experiment with the type of effect the blur can have. I love the nostalgia and mystery and the shallow depth of field. Naturally, for some shots it works and others it doesn't, but in particular I was extremely pleased with the first shot in this post. I love the painterly quality of the colours and the tiny depth of field makes your eyes focus in on the tiny details.

Anyway, I've babbled on enough for now! :)

I'd be interested to hear your opinions of using blur in photography.

You can find selected photographs from this post in my Etsy shop available to buy as prints.

A friendly fellow..

I spied this little fellow when I was out for a wander yesterday and he was so cute and very intrigued by my camera!!

He reminds me of Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch - a part of me hoped he'd say hello!

Have a brilliant weekend,

Late spring, early summer..

Roses look especially stunning this time of year - I just had to take a slightly hazy shot of the pink and yellow roses, those colours are just fabulous!

I've been taking lots of walks recently which is the brilliant thing about this time of year (when it isn't raining of course) and I've gone back to basics - just shooting "with my gut instinct" and not thinking too much about what I'm shooting and how. I like this approach as it creates unusual and unexpected shots, and some of the time they turn out nicely too! ;)

The other day I went for a walk near where I live which leads down to the river, and there's one road nearby which is FULL of cats. I know many people have a cat, but everywhere you look down this road in particular there's a kitty staring at you - it would be creepy if they weren't so cute!

How is everyone enjoying summer so far? What have you all been up to, and where are your favourite places to go for a wander?

Wandering bare foot in the grass

These are from a beautiful spring day recently.. the sun lit the garden beautifully and I did something I hadn't done since I was a little girl - I kicked off my shoes and walked bare foot in the grass. This may sound silly, but it felt wonderful to just enjoy the outdoors and go wandering with my bare feet in the cool, soft grass.

I must comment on the last image in this series, the golden sunlight flooded this beautiful spring blossom and I couldn't resist a backlit shot, it looked even more beautiful in real life.

These images will be available in my shop very soon http://www.etsy.com/shop/ChloeEleanor

Have a wonderful weekend,

Spring is here!

Everywhere looks so pretty at the moment with the arrival of hundreds of Daffodils and other spring flowers like the heathers, blossom and pansies below.

As snow is becoming more common during our English winters, winter feels like it lasts forever and I feel invigorated from the arrival of Spring. The air is fresh, the sun is out, everything is much more colourful and everything generally feels more positive this time of year. Plus, it's so lovely to just go out and wander without scarves/coats/gloves.

This series of photographs was taken on our Mother's Day outing, and I just love all the colours. I think the combination of spring greens, yellows, purples and pinks are my favourite combination of colours.

A selection of these shots are available as prints in my Etsy shop if you fancy taking a look: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ChloeEleanor

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and do let me know what you've been up to! Hope everyone's enjoying the beautiful spring weather :)

Daffodil season..

I absolutely love this time of year. Daffodils, blossom, tulips, warmer days, leaving coats at home and the foreshadowing excitement of summer.

Keep your eye out for some more beautiful spring flowers and Easter delights coming soon.

Who says only fresh flowers are beautiful?

Whilst hunting around yesterday for something to trigger my creative juices, I found these dried but beautiful roses and in the golden evening sunlight couldn't resist shooting them.

There's something beautiful, nostalgic and delicate about dried flowers that I just love. Nothing beats the look and scent of fresh roses.. but I just love the way their delicate features and petals remain so beautifully formed despite the faded colours.

I suppose they remind me of the fragility and beauty of life itself.
